The Louis Electric Deltone is one sweet sounding amp - and we mean that in the most literal way possible. At its heart, Louis Electric's Deltone is trying to nail the most sought after tones of pre-CBS Blackface era Fender amplifiers.
Starting out, we have 20 watts of 6V6 power and it is a LOUD and POWERFUL 20 watts. The Deltone is also able to accommodate 6L6 power tubes which brings it to a huge sounding 35 watts. The base tone is absolutely delicious, hence the sweet sound. Rounded and robust bass frequencies are complimented by a soothing midrange and high-end that retains clarity and punch but never gets brittle or piercing. The treble frequencies respond with such a brilliant percussive attack that isn't shrill, a rarity amongst amps that have such a pronounced high end. The onboard tremolo and reverb is dreamy and refined; everything from back-of-the-mix subtle to full on drenched ambient goodness.
Between amazing craftsmanship, a sound that's sweet as can be, and awesome vintage aesthetics, the Louis Electric Deltone could be the perfect amp for you!
Deltone Reverb Amp
The Deltone is a 6V6-based, 20 Watt, single 12" combo. It is the result of requests from longstanding customers to build a black line series to emulate the beautiful sounds of the pre-CBS black amplifiers. The Deltone is a true two-channel amp with two inputs for each channel. One channel offers a straight sound and the other channel offers vibrato and reverb.
The Tremolo circuit was modified from the opto-coupled or photo-cell tremolo circuit in the blackface amps and moved to a bias modulated circuit. The Reverb circuit has also been altered from the 12AT7 driver tube to a 12AU7. This change provides a more pleasing reverb sound to the ear.
The Normal channel of the Deltone has volume, treble and bass. The Vibrato channel has volume, treble, middle, bass, reverb, speed, and intensity. The original blackface deluxe amp did not have a middle control. The middle control is a great addition as it provides more control for the player's midrange sound.
The Deltone comes standard with a 6V6 tube configuration. The amp can accommodate a 6L6 configuration with 35 Watts of output power. An additional feature with the 6L6 configuration is a 4k/8k option. This allows the player to simply switch the load to provide a cleaner or more distorted sound. The 4k option provides cleaner tones, while the 8k option will lower the wattage and provide quicker mid-range break up.
