From Genelec

The Genelec 9402A System Management Device enables seamless integration of Smart

Active Monitoring (SAM) systems into modern broadcast and production networks. Designed

for immersive and scalable workflows, the 9402A delivers high-quality multichannel audio

distribution over standard IP infrastructures, with a strong focus on Dante-based workflows

and system reliability.

What does it do?

  • The Genelec 9402A System Management Device is a multichannel Audio-over-IP (AoIP) interface
  • Designed for immersive and scalable workflows
  • Enables seamless integration of Smart Active Monitoring (SAM) systems for modern production and broadcast.
  • Supports uncompressed low latency highresolution multichannel audio distribution over standard IP infrastructures, with a strong focus on Dante-based workflows and system reliability.
  • Supports immersive audio streaming directly from a DAW (using e.g. Dolby Atmos renderer) to SAM monitors and subwoofers using Dante Audio-over-IP (AoIP) networks
  • 16-channel AoIP monitoring solution with full bass management for 73xx subwoofers.
  • Empowers complete GLM room calibration and monitoring system management
  • A perfect solution for Dante users (9401A for Ravenna)

Benefits

  • Empowers all SAM monitoring systems for AoIP (Dante, AES67, ST2110).
  • Bit-perfect without audio quality compromise.
  • Can be used with Dante Controller, Dante Director and Dante Domain Manager – discovery, routing, management and media encryption.
  • Several units can be added for unlimited channel count. One 9402A supports immersive audio up to 9.1.6 (16 channels).
  • Free choice of 7300 subwoofer model
  • Auxiliary stereo AES output is available for headphones or secondary monitoring.
  • Integrates with GLM 5.2 for system calibration and control.

Connectivity from IP Network

  • Seamlessly integrates into existing Dante infrastructures and workflows.
  • Redundant network input (ST2022-7) offers reliable performance.
  • Supports Dante Media Encryption, Dante Controller, Dante Director (cloud management), Dante Domain Manager (local management server)

Connectivity to SAM monitor systems

  • Part of the UNIO monitoring platform and services.
  • Full compatibility with Genelec SAM monitors and 73xx subwoofers.
  • Flexible and scalable system design - each 9402A increases channel count by 16 and a subwoofer connection.
  • Simplifies scaling of low-frequency SPL output through efficient use of multiple subwoofers.
  • Adapts perfectly to your chosen format, layout, and listening room with GLM 5.2 or later.

Dante Configuration

  • Connect the 9402A to the primary Ethernet network (Gigabit network required).
  • Open Dante Controller software and locate the 9402A device on the network.
  • Assign the desired audio streams from the Dante source to the 9402A receiver channels.
  • Ensure channel count is correctly mapped (16 output channels delivered via DB25).
  • If required, enable AES67 compatibility mode in Dante Controller for AES67 streams.
  • Use redundant network connections (primary + secondary) for ST2022-7 failover.
  • Verify clocking via PTPv2 – 9402A can act as clock or follow network master.
  • Confirm signal presence via front panel indicators before routing to monitors.

GLM System Configuration

  • Connect all monitors, subwoofers, and 9402A to the GLM network.
  • Launch GLM software and place devices into the system layout.
  • Set monitoring group input mode to Digital.
  • Assign LFE channel and subwoofer routing in GLM.
  • Run automatic calibration and alignment for full system optimization.
  • Store settings to devices for standalone operation.
