The Gibson Custom 1942 Banner J-45 captures the warmth, simplicity, and unmistakable character of a golden-era acoustic guitar. Its thermally aged red spruce top, paired with mahogany back and sides, produces a beautifully balanced voice with woody warmth, rich midrange, and the kind of natural responsiveness that makes you want to keep playing. Traditional hand-scalloped X-bracing, crafted with red spruce braces and hide glue, further enhances its dynamic range, allowing everything from gentle fingerpicking to full-bodied strumming to come through with remarkable character. A comfortable Historic-profile mahogany neck, rosewood fingerboard, and 24.75" scale length deliver a familiar, inviting playing experience. Finished in thin nitrocellulose lacquer with a vintage-inspired VOS treatment, it carries the understated charm of its 1942 roots. Complete with a period-correct case, this J-45 is a wonderful companion for players who appreciate an acoustic guitar with genuine soul!

From Gibson Guitars

The allure and legend of the Gibson J-45 lives on in the new Custom Historic 1942 Banner J-45. Inspired by the holy grail of vintage acoustic instruments, luthiers in Montana meticulously crafted a J-45 just like the most popular and celebrated version in structure and components. The new 1942 Banner J-45 includes a Thermally Aged Adirondack red spruce top hand-sprayed with a historic-style burst, hot hide glue top bracing for better tonal response, and a bone nut and saddle.
