The unit’s Gain Recovery Computer automatically adjusts nominal output levels across varying threshold and ratio settings. For streamlined operation, an Auto mode optimizes attack, ratio, and release parameters dynamically relative to the input signal, allowing single-knob threshold control.

For peak protection, the 440 includes an independent, ultra-fast limiter exhibiting attack times of 1 µs/dB or less, paired with a fixed 60:1 ratio and adjustable release. An integrated safety clipper automatically tracks the limiter threshold to instantly stop extreme high-frequency transients that bypass standard limiting circuits.
