Goodrich Sound Company

Founded in 1965, Goodrich Sound was born during a defining era for the pedal steel guitar. As stages grew louder and players demanded greater control over their dynamics, the need for a smooth, reliable volume pedal became essential. Goodrich answered that call, quickly earning a reputation for building pedals that preserved tone while delivering precise, musical control — tools designed not just to adjust volume, but to shape expression.

The company was founded by Philip Goodrich, whose vision and craftsmanship established the foundation for everything that followed. As the designer and creative force behind the original designs, Philip brought a deep understanding of tone, mechanics, and player response — shaping pedals that felt as musical as they were reliable. Alongside him, his son Ollie Goodrich and longtime friend Curt played an important role in building and supporting the company in its early years, helping carry those designs from the workbench to stages across the country.

Throughout the 1970s and 1980s, Goodrich volume pedals became a staple among professional players. Known for their rugged construction, road-ready reliability, and exceptionally smooth taper, these pedals helped define the modern steel guitar sound heard on countless recordings and stages. At a time when signal loss and noise were common challenges, Goodrich pedals stood apart — maintaining clarity, warmth, and sustain where others fell short.

As the needs of players evolved, so did the designs. Goodrich expanded its lineup to include both passive and active models, offering solutions for everything from traditional setups to modern, high-performance rigs. While technology advanced, the philosophy never changed: build pedals that respond naturally to the player’s touch and hold up under years of demanding use.

Today, Goodrich Sound remains a benchmark in the industry. With a legacy rooted in craftsmanship and a reputation earned on stages around the world, Goodrich pedals continue to deliver the feel, tone, and reliability that players depend on.

Since 1965 — trusted on stages for generations. Built for players who hear the difference.
