Sound Pure's Take

Great River has taken a familiar design and in a lot of ways improved upon it. When it comes to sound, the often unwieldy low-mids that a classic 1073 (or 1073 clone) will tend to have are much tighter and punchier with the Great River preamp. Also, the hi-freq response reveals much more detail than its inspiration. Key features like the “loading” button that engages a 600 ohm resistor before the output stage open the door to a ton of sonic variations. Also, switchable input and output metering really set this preamp apart in the ever-growing sea of Neve-inspired hardware.
When I use it on rock vocals, it adds a weight and texture that is simply to die for. This is also my go-to pre for overhead recordings, where the high frequencies are delivered in a warm, controlled manner and the drums sound punchy and thunderous. Being a Neve-inspired unit, it shares the same source flexibility, so while I have my favorites, it performs exceptionally all throughout the studio. I also really like the DI of the Great River. They managed to implement a FET-buffered route for the instrument signal to pass through the custom wound Sowter transformer. This makes the DI much more than an afterthought which, let's face it, on some mic pres that's exactly what it is. I often go with its DI over my pricey dedicated DI units.

A handmade one-of-a-kind beauty that typifies the craftsmanship you get from any Wes Lambe guitar, the Adirondack/Mahogany OM Acoustic Guitar from Wes Lambe is a stunner. Not only are we proud to support a local luthier, but also even more proud to present a fantastic guitar, that exhibits the kind of craftsmanship that deserves noting. The OM has an Adirondack top, and the Honduran Mahogany on the back and sides is a much lighter Mahogany than usually seen, and not only gives this guitar a unique look but a unique tone as well. To say that this Acoustic Guitar from Wes Lambe can do it all is probably understatement, ranging from ringing clarity to in-your-face punch at the drop of a hat, there is little you can't do on this Acoustic. Another stellar addition to the Bourgeois line of Acoustic Guitars, this version of the popular Slope D Acoustic is fitted with a short scale and Adirondack top.  Despite it's shorter scale, this iteration of the Slope D from Bourgeois Guitars, still provides that clarity you have come to expect from note to note from Bourgeois, but with a little added warmth and sweetness in tone that short scale guitars provide. Very much in the same way that a vintage short-scale provides a relaxed playability, this Slope D Acoustic from Bourgeois makes it easy on the player, but never compromises the power and versatility of this Adirondack and Mahogany fitted Acoustic. With the ability to give the warmth of the Mahogany and the short scale, but with the punch that players love from previous versions of the Slope D, this latest Acoustic from Bourgeois is truly a spectacular instrument! From Great River Electronics

The ME-1NV (single channel mic preamp) greatly modernizes and improves classic British design. This desktop (and rackable) preamp offers the same definitive sonic fidelity and expert craftsmanship as all Great River products, with the ability to fine-tune gain effects like 1970's-era 1073's. Transparency and vintage harmonic structure are both achieved with NV-Series preamps.

The ME-1NV achieves new classic performance status with two discrete Class-A gain stages (the dual gain-stage meters are a Great River exclusive), a front-panel DI input jack which is routed via FET through the input transformer (also unique to Great River preamps) for must-hear-to-believe sound from all Hi-Z instruments, and a discrete high-current Class-A "big iron" transformer-coupled output amplifier. The ME-1NV is a fundamentally important audio tool that brings out the best in every microphone and instrument.

Multiple In/Out connections
XLR balanced; ¼" -10dbV output for 'no-latency' DAW monitoring; high-Z input on front panel (disconnects mic input): TRS ¼" insert patch point for compressor or equalizer ahead of the output amplifier
Adjustable gain stages
input in 5db steps to 60db; output from -25 to +10db; maximum overall gain 70db; 2 to 3 stages of single ended solid state amplifier gain blocks, depending on gain structure; high-current 70ma Class A bias on output stage

Input and output meters on each channel (dual-stage metering is a Great River exclusive)

Front panel switches
polarity; phantom power; input impedance (1200 / 300 ohm); output loading (600 ohm resistor across output transformer)

High quality, custom wound Sowter transformers

Gold plated switching contacts

Internal power supply

110 or 220 volt operation with external selection, either 50 or 60 Hz

3 year warranty with registration

Half-rack-space with internal power supply

'Big Iron Vintage Sound' from custom-wound transformers

'No-latency' output monitoring for DAW users

High-Z input is ideal for bass, guitar, and sound modules (FET-buffered and routed into the input transformer, a Great River exclusive)

Gain stage monitoring via dual meters (also a Great River exclusive)

Ultra quiet noise floor for outstanding performance at any gain setting
